Kalmar Nyckel unable to visit Lewes, DE in 2018
Those who have long been associated with the Kalmar Nyckel know that Lewes, DE, is one of our favorite stops during each sailing season. However, over the past few years, we have encountered a silting situation at the dock that has dramatically reduced our number of weekly sails. We have learned that the silt build-up has increased to a level where it is not possible for us to reach the dock at all this summer. We are in the process of revising our schedule for the weeks Kalmar Nyckel was scheduled to be in Lewes. We are also working on a plan to determine if funding and permits can be secured for dredging the dock for a return in 2019. We apologize for the inconvenience that this schedule change has made for our passengers, volunteers, partners, and our 2018 summer crew training class. Thanks for your support and understanding!

Did you know: That Kalmar Nyckel was part of Gustav II Adolf's famous Swedish invasion fleet of 1630, a landmark event of the Thirty Years' War?
