Filling the imagination with the excitement of voyage and discovery

The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation is a maritime-based educational organization that demonstrates the values of trust, teamwork and self discipline by offering the public opportunities to participate in programs centered on the building, sailing and preservation of Delaware's tall ship ambassador, the Kalmar Nyckel.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit charitable foundation headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Foundation, with its dedicated volunteers, seeks to preserve and share Delaware's rich natural and cultural heritage by offering:

Opportunities for partners in business, education and tourism to increase the visibility of Delaware's location, heritage and attractions.
 
Shipboard, shipyard, and other land-based learning experiences on a variety of historic, social, scientific, environmental and cultural topics.
 
Recreational experiences that enhance the participants' appreciation for both the values that the ship represents and the places she visits.
