The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation seeks a dynamic, experienced educator to lead its Education Department at an exciting moment in the Foundation’s history: The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation is completing the first phase of strategic planning. The building of the Tall Ship, Kalmar Nyckel celebrates its 10th anniversary.

The Director of Education will report to the Executive Director of the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, and will oversee the interpretation of the Foundation’s collection and education programs as well as its community involvement. S/he will provide effective supervision of educational programs, community affairs, public programs, school and teacher programs, and the volunteer educators program. A fundamental priority for this position is to increase of number of school groups visiting the site as well as the development and implementation of community & educational collaborations that will foster and deepen the engagement of broad and diverse audiences.

Additional Qualifications:

We are seeking energetic candidates with educational & management experience. He/She must have a connection to the education profession and clearly understand how to create and maintain a program that meets the curriculum needs of Delaware schools.

Degrees in history or education, with demonstrated success in the planning, development and implementation of educational programs and community outreach are essential. This individual must have a proven passion for the dual mission of achieving scholarly excellence as well as broad audience participation. Strong writing and speaking skills are important.
