Grand Opening Copeland Maritime Center at the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard
Join us May 10 from 1pm to 4pm as we celebrate the public grand opening of the Copeland Maritime Center at the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard!
There are many activities planned for the whole family:
We will be unveiling “Watercraft of the World,” a major permanent exhibit in the education center generously donated by Bob and Marilyn Forney.. These 72 model ships and boats were gathered by Bob and Marilyn from their many travels around the world and represent over 60 foreign “lands.”
The Opening Ceremony will begin promptly at 2 pm.
We are grateful to the support of our sponsors:
Traffic, Parking and Water Taxi Information:
We will have plenty of free parking in the lot across the street from the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard.
Please note that the Delaware Marathon will be held the morning of May 10th. If you are coming from the west or just looking for a fun transportation alternative,
you might consider parking at
DRAVO and taking the water taxi, departing approximately on the hour and
arriving at our dock approximately on the half hour. First arrival at our
dock would be 1:30; last departure from Kalmar Nyckel back to Dravo at 4:30 (additional fee required).
Did you know: That today's Kalmar Nyckel was the last ship launched in Wilmington, DE, a city that launched more than 10,000 ships?
