A special evening to celebrate the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, our education mission, and to honor this year's King Neptune Award recipient, state Senator Margaret Rose Henry, for her twenty years of devoted service and support of the Kalamar Nyckel Foundation. Featuring cocktails on our Tall Ship, silent and live auctions, the King Neptune Award presentation, Gala Games, photo booth, plein air painter, live music and dancing, dining prepared by celebrated local chefs, and open bar.

A private luncheon for 12 with Ambassador, Her Excellency Kirsti Kauppi at the official residence, in Washington D.C. followed by a tour of the first LEED certified embassy in the U.S.

#4 - Cocktail Reception for 25 at the Swedish Ambassador's Residence

Co-host a private evening cocktail reception with the Ambassador, Her Excellency Karin Olofsdotter, and 25 of your guests at the official Swedish Ambassador's residence in Washington DC. Special menu prepared by The Embassy Chef.

#5 - Caffé Gelato Private Dinner or Cocktail Party

Enjoy your choice of a catered cocktail party for up to 25 guests or a private in-home dinner for up to 10 guests, on a date mutually agreeable to buyer and Caffé Gelato.

#6 - Mission Moment

Did you know that 50% of our programs serve Title I (low income schools? And we rely on private donations to cover 50% of the cost or our Education Programs? Please raise your paddle during our Live Auction to support our mission.

#7 - Below Decks Captains’ Dinner on Kalmar Nyckel

Cocktails on the Main Deck followed by a gourmet dinner “Below Decks.” Join Captains Sharon and Lauren for a special dinner for 6 guests prepared by Kalmar Nyckel Chef Greg Brown.

#8 - Charter Sail and Cocktail Party on Kalmar Nyckel

Entertain 48 guests and friends during this private 1 ½ hour Wilmington sail in 2019! A one-of-a-kind event for you and your friends.

Our Mission

The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation is a non-profit educational organization with the mission of preserving and promoting the cultural and maritime heritage of Delaware and the Delaware Valley for the education and enrichment of all. The Foundation is a volunteer-based organization that built, owns and operates the Kalmar Nyckel.

  • Launched in 1997, Kalmar Nyckel serves as a floating classroom and an inspirational platform that offers people of all ages a variety of sea- and land-based recreational and educational experiences. The Foundation also serves as a catalyst for social and economic development and outreach in and beyond the state of Delaware.
  • The Tatiana and Gerret Copeland Maritime Center, opened in 2015, offers educational opportunities and a year-round destination for schools as well as the public to experience hands-on learning, museum quality galleries, private event and party space, and workshops for maintaining the ship.
