At the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard on Seventh Street
When the ship is not visiting other ports she resides at the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard on the Christina River in her homeport in Wilmington. The Kalmar Nyckel's construction, launching, and crew training all took place in our Shipyard, a location literally next door to the original Kalmar Nyckel landing site. A visit to our Shipyard reveals glimpses into the ancient art of ship making and into the colonial history of Delaware. Our newly completed Sail Loft Museum is a hands-on documentation of the Kalmar Nyckel's history, craftsmanship, and dedicated supporters. The Shipyard also includes a Blacksmith Shop and Gift Shop.

Fort Christina Park, the original landing site of the ship, is next to the shipyard. Here, a monument to the Kalmar Nyckel's 1638 landing stands. The stone carvings depicting the colony, designed by internationally famous sculptor Carl Milles, were paid for by the contributions of 250,000 Swedes. |

Old Swedes Church and the Hendrickson House Museum are also within walking distance. A variety of learning experiences and special events are offered throughout the year at the Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard and at other sites on the 7th Street peninsula. |

Educational programming, including hands-on learning experiences, are offered on-site at the shipyard and in the sail loft throughout the year for groups by appointment. |
At other points along Wilmington's Revitalized Riverfront
The ship also berths at other important points along Wilmington's newly revitalized Riverfront. She can often be found at Tubman-Garrett Park next to the Amtrak station or at the pier (Dravo Plaza) near the Riverfront Arts Center, the Shipyard Shops and the Blue Rocks Stadium. She is often a special guest at important events in Wilmington including the Fourth of July Celebration and Riverfest in the fall. |
At the Delaware Port of Lewes
The ship frequently visits other Delaware communities and serves as a visitor attraction as well as an educational outreach platform. Educational programming for school children also occurs at the beach town of Lewes, located where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay. |
| |
| |
A summertime crew training program is frequently held in conjunction with the ship's stay in Lewes. The ship berths in Lewes at the Cape May Lewes Ferry Terminal Dock and occasionally at the Town Dock in Lewes' scenic historic district. She also often visits the University of Delaware College of Marine Studies. |
