2:30pm HARRIET TUBMAN performance

Black History Month comes alive at 2:30pm with Harriet Tubman, a special performance by actor-historian Dr. Daisy Century. Explore Wilmington's maritime Underground Railroad history with an afternoon for all ages. Crafts, activities, and prizes for children.

Featuring Harriet Tubman, a special performance at 2:30pm by historic re-enactor Dr. Daisy Century of the American Historical Theatre.

Activities for all ages (from 1:00-4:30pm):

  • Free tours of the Copeland Maritime Center including model ship exhibits
  • Crafts and activities include building a Freedom Boat and coloring the North Star
  • Face painting (for a fee)
  • Free guided tours of neigboring Fort Christina Park where freedom seekers embarked on boats and met "conductors"with horses and carriages. Fort Christina Park is on the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom (the same site where Kalmar Nyckel landed in 1638). Weather dependent.
  • Free admission and parking
