Education Manager
Department: Education
Supervisor: Associate Director of Education
Employment Status: Full time, exempt
Pay: $43,000 per year

Primary Objective: The Education Manager helps to broaden the reach of our education programs and activities, improve the visitor experience, and enhance the reputation of KNF throughout Delaware and the Delaware Valley. The Education Manager works as part of the Education team to ensure that the KNF education mission is implemented with the highest standards and engages visitors, families, students, community youth groups, and the public in a variety of venues.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Lead or present school field trip programs on the KNF campus and the ship as well as lessons in the classroom and at community youth organizations throughout Delaware and the Delaware Valley.
· Assist with the planning and implementation of KNF’s major annual community events, such as Lego Shipbuilding Day as well as facilitating additional public and community programs.
· Organize and represent KNF at select outreach events. Identify new outreach opportunities.
· Coordinate and implement adult public tour groups.
· Communicate with volunteers to fill roles for educational programs, community events, and building guides.
· Oversee day-to-day guest service operation of the museum, including opening the museum and greeting guests and operating the gift shop in the Copeland Maritime Center as required.
· Manage KNF’s day-to-day operations of Fort Christina Park, implementing programs to increase public visitation and community use.
· Collect, track, analyze, and report Fort Christina Park visitation numbers and activity.
· Assist with the management and enhancement of the visitor experience in the Copeland Maritime Center and on the KNF campus in addition to Fort Christina Park.
· Create content to promote programs through social media and other digital platforms to reach new visitors.
· Manage Maritime Outdoor Adventure Course program for youth and adult groups.
· Model and ensure the exemplification of the KNF Code of Conduct and Child Safety Policy throughout the KNF education program.
· Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
· At least two (2) to three (3) years of experience in event planning/coordination or similar field
· Teaching experience inside or outside of the classroom and experience with presentations in front of groups of a variety of ages
· Independently-motivated, with strong problem-solving, organizational and time management skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Familiar with computer software, including Microsoft’s Office and Adobe Creative Suites
· Social Media content creation experience
· Leadership experience
· Bachelor’s Degree (in education, history, or museum studies or related field a plus).
· Sense of humor
· Must pass a U.S. Coast Guard drug test and participate in random drug testing program
