Captain Kidd's Pirate Day

Ahoy! Join us for our 5th annual afternoon of kid's activities inspired by swashbuckling Captain Kidd who once trolled the waters off the Delaware coast.

Join us for a family-friendly event inspired by Delaware’s infamous Captain Kidd on our shipyard campus and inside our Copeland Maritime Center. Dress as your favorite pirate if you dare!

  • Special thanks to Dr. Pepper, Noramco, Walmart, and Diamond State Recycling.

Activities include:

  • FREE Kalmar Nyckel ship tours from 12:30-4:00pm
  • Cannon and Blacksmith Demonstrations
  • Treasure Hunt
  • Maritime Outdoor Adventure stations for all ages
  • Pirate Crafts, Build a Pirate Ship, and Selfie Stations
  • “Sword School” with foam swords
  • Face Painting and Food Trucks
  • Free Admission and Parking. Fees for some activities.

Event Volunteers

This event is a great opportunity to participate for 2-4 hours and get involved with our exciting Kalmar Nyckel Foundation community programs. Volunteers are needed to help staff activities, manage parking, and serve at welcome and water stations, and more.
